So after the Monday night game in Chicago, the "Mugs" needed a bit of encouragement.  There was a big game coming up after a short week, and the Lions desperately needed a win against Seattle.  This is a series of emails that come together to make quite the blog post I thought:

John started us out like this:

"So Tuesday morning after a loss are much worse than Monday mornings!!!  I am really angry that the strength of the team is stopping us from winning.  BUT I have confidence.why because I always have and this year more than others I feel there is a reason it!

The Bears suck!!  Why??  Because they played at home and one of their best games of the year and were still only one play away from losing the game.  The Great Cutler could do nothing against the horrible Lions secondary.

So what happens now?  Here are my thoughts, for what they are worth.  I think this next game is do or die!  As fans we need to treat it like that.  Seattle feeds off their crowd so should our team.  It should be so crazy in there you can't even think.  The offense needs to turn the pressure up on the defense.  It is insane that we are taking what teams give us and NOT taking what we want!  I really feel you cannot hold this offense down this long.  Too many weapons and some home cooking is needed!  So with that it think Lions win 38-13.

Back on the road..which sucks BUT no better place to go on the road and start a winning streak than Jacksonville!  Won't be easy but Lions will be hungry and similar to the Denver game last year defense will shine.Lions win 44-10.

Road game again?  My god this is brutal.  What is a good thing is after this game, 5 home games and only 2 road games left!  Vikings stand in the way of a 3 game winning streak.  The Metrodome is a rough place to play.  Offense has started to gel and defense front 7 is starting to control game as they are suppose to.  Peterson is limited, no special teams scores and Ponder plays like Trent Dilfer...Lions win 24 to 17.

At this point we are 5-4 with 5 home games left.

Sorry for the rant, so angry and needed to vent."

Then Ron fanned the flames with:

"I just through on my Honolulu blue and silver choir robe and am now swaying rhythmically to the preaching of Father John (no alter boy jokes at this time). The water has been turned to blue koolaid instead of wine and we are ready to feast on some of Brian's beans!!!
True followers rise to the occasion when our team needs us! We are all frustrated by this performance...why? Because we can see the greatness just under the surface of this horrible record. Something is just missing, a galvanizing event to bring them together. That needs to be this next home game. Just like last years Monday night game. Time to ramp it up and lift our team up while they are down. The Seattle devils have no chance when our team is backed by our fans at the level we know we can take it to! Now is the time to show our true colors!! Time to be louder than ever before time to deliver our team to victory! Time to charge "Forward down the field"!!!
Time the best Lions fan to let out their mightiest roar ever!!! "

By this time we're feeling the fire starting to smolder in our bellies.

Brian chimes in with this little gem:

"5 days, 5 scant days til a defining moment in the Lions season, their franchise dare I say it. All the progress of last year, all the expectations led us to believe it could be a special year. Belief, character, heart...words that will be on the line for fans this Sunday. We've carried the team to levels unseen in years, it is up to each one of us to deliver support at a supreme level. Any fan with a speaking voice after Sunday should be ashamed. It's our team, it's our house, it's our Sunday. Bring it!!!"

After all that, I was pretty fired up (and apparently had too much time on my hands).  Here's my contribution:

"It's a decades old chant that still faintly echoes through the empty chasm of the Silverdome, and the bustling concourses of Mr. Ford's Field. Same Old Lions. It is a tired, dry, hacking protest of the weak-hearted, the frail, and the soft.  It is the whine of ones who don't have the fortitude a true fan does. 

I contest that these gridiron heroes are not the Lions of the past, nay friends, these Lions are our future.  On this Sunday's morn, we'll prove this to all opposed!  With shouts of apology for ruining a Seahawk's Sunday, we'll boil the beans, pull the pork, dip the chips, and thoroughly lubricate our vocal chords, with large quantities of water blended with fermented hops and barley!  We will devour this feast much like the Lions will devour those Seabird's from Seattle, we will drink our libations as a Lion would drink the blood of its kill!

As we enter the arena, our mission is clear, lead with your voice this team of warriors. With all our might we shout forth "CALVIN!" "SUH!" "SSSTTTTAAAAFFFFFOOOOORRRRDDDD!"  Leaving every ounce of energy in the aisles, nothing will stop us from rousing on our beloved team.  Agreed brothers, if one is left with a voice on Monday's dawn, he should hang his head in shame.

It's is up to us, my friends, my brothers, my fellow fans in arms!  Cheer this team, raise this roof, shout down the naysayers, challenge the opponent's supporters!! Never back down, never give in, bring glory and honor to this house! Stand and cheer the brave! Watch and revel as our band of warriors go down the field and gain a Lions' victory!!!"

It must have worked, we were ready, and so was Ford Field.  The stadium was the loudest it has been since last years' Monday night game and in the end the Lions came out on top, and that's what matters the most...

2011 Season

What a year we had! Our lions finally have a winning record and made the playoffs! Our quarterback played the the whole year....STAFFFFOOORRRDD.... and proved he will be a stud. As for the tailgating we had some great weather this year and a lot of great food. It seemed like each week got better and better! One of the best weeks that we had was the Monday Night Football game. WOW! The tailgate started right about noon and sure did not feel like we were out there for 8 hours. This was the first Made in Michigan themed tailgate. The goal was to have as many things made in Michigan as possible. This will be a yearly tradition for the Frosty Mugs. This year our tailgates rose to the next level, each one making the next better. I would say that was the fact in the last tailgate of the year. Our 1st Holiday Feast, and a feast it was! We has some of the best food of the year and our best ping pong and bean bag toss competition of the year. I could talk about this great times we had this year for a lot longer but i will stop here. Before I finish I just want to thank Ron, Brian and Lee for the help they had at make things great this year. Until next year!!
